Job Title: Associate Attorney – Consumer Debt Collection

About Us: We are a well-established Indiana law firm focused on consumer debt collection litigation. Our practice is built on professionalism, efficiency, and strict compliance with state and federal laws, including the FDCPA, Regulation F, FCRA, GLBA, and Indiana-specific statutes. We are currently seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing legal team. This is a remote position with regular in-person court appearances across the state.
Job Summary: The Associate Attorney will manage a caseload of collection matters, represent clients in court hearings across Indiana, and ensure compliance with all applicable legal and ethical standards. The ideal candidate will be licensed in Indiana and have experience in consumer collections, civil litigation, or a related practice area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and proceedings across various Indiana counties.
- Review and sign pleadings, including complaints, motions, and discovery documents.
- Provide legal oversight and direction on case strategy and procedural matters.
- Conduct legal research and ensure all filings comply with applicable laws and court rules.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, legal assistants, and clients.
- Maintain case files and prepare regular reports on case status.
- Communicate professionally with court personnel, opposing counsel, and clients.
- Stay current on legal developments and compliance obligations relevant to consumer debt collection.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Indiana (in good standing).
- 1–3 years of experience in civil litigation, creditor rights, or consumer collections preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly for court appearances throughout Indiana.
- Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
- Familiarity with FDCPA, Regulation F, and state collection laws a strong plus.
- Comfortable using legal practice management software and remote collaboration tools.
