    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY:

    AXIS AUTOMATION is looking for a Purchasing Manager with experience in a manufacturing environment. Purchasing Manager is responsible for organizing and supervising purchasing functions. Manage daily activities in purchasing to include day to day and capital project purchases. Managing contracts including administering, negotiating, reviewing, renewing, filing, and evaluating for availability, price, term, and quality products. Coordinating bid process and ensuring compliance with procurement, conflict of interest policies and regulations. Lead the setup of systems and processes to control the purchasing and flow of components and assemblies from external and internal suppliers domestically and internationally.

    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Lead, manage, accountability of purchasing personnel
    • Maximize WIP inventory turnover
    • Maximize Item Master inventory turnover
    • Negotiate with vendors for optimal pricing and terms
    • Vendor management
    • Plan and coordinate inventory flow with manufacturing

    ADDITIONAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Effectively plan the resources required to meet anticipated customer demand
      • Ensure uninterrupted supply of machined components, fabricated parts, outside operations, subassemblies and other commodities and expedite as necessary
      • Drives solutions to supply issues through negotiation, proposing alternate methods/materials
      • Produce metrics/analytics on inventory usage, forecast and projected inventory levels
      • Facilitate efficient and cost-effective sourcing initiatives by developing suppliers for quality improvement, cost reduction and timely delivery
      • Implement and manage vendor evaluation processes
    • Under the direction of the Director of Operations; review departmental schedules, coordinate work orders and schedule flow of work within and between manufacturing departments
      • Establish priorities and analyze production specifications for customer orders, making revisions as necessary
      • Schedule production workflow according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times based upon the availability or capacity of workers, parts, materials, machines and equipment
      • Expedite production in all aspects of the manufacturing process to ensure timely building and shipping of equipment
      • Resolve quality issues
    • Work with engineering, production, customer service, quality and accounting to streamline processes in support of customer service excellence
    • Maintain ERP system information is accurate and current; identify and implement opportunities to optimize processes
    • Update and maintain planning policies and work instruction to meet current requirements and deliver targeted business results
    • Leads & manages Buyers and Purchasing Coordinators
    • Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Lead and direct the work of purchasing clerks including hiring, training and supervising.
    • Contract management to include all aspects (e.g. administer, review, manage, file, evaluate, analyze, and negotiate).
    • Negotiate or renegotiate and administer contracts with vendors.
    • Administer bidding process and contracts (e.g. prepare specifications, evaluate bids, recommend vendors, etc.).
    • Research and evaluate vendors/contracts to ensure it is in compliance with government regulations (e.g. vendor debarment and suspension regulation).
    • Evaluate vendors to ensure its performance is aligned with established specifications.
    • Evaluate order and bid documentation.
    • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
    • Review and maintain good record of purchasing files and records (purchase orders, contracts, etc.) to ensure its compliance with company policies and procedures and ensure the availability of documentation.
    • Back up purchasing clerk to include ordering of supplies/goods, equipment and material, reviewing, and processing/issuing of purchase order.
    • Review and monitor capital purchases to ensure its compliance with company policies and procedures. · Identify opportunities for cost savings.
    • Compile data from variety of sources for analyzing and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and monitoring of purchasing processes.
    • Continually improve purchasing methods/processes.
    • Response to inquiries from internal and external sources in providing information, direction, and or appropriate referrals.
    • Special projects and/or other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience or Associates degree and 8+ years of experience, purchasing and materials management experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Purchasing experience in automation and capital equipment building
    • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
    • Ability to work with multiple business functions and find balance in conflicting priorities
    • Demonstrated knowledge and success in logistics, supply chain and import/export responsibilities
    • Expert computer skills with MS Office and ERP systems
