    Job Summary

    We are seeking a Shop Foreman to join our team. This is a newly created position. As the Shop Foreman, you will be responsible for keeping the fleet of blower trucks and equipment operating and maintained. This is a small shop atmosphere that only works on our equipment. Help us grow in the tracking and monitoring of repairs and maintenance electronically on a computer and connect to the newer trucks with Davie 4 software or similar for diagnostics. You will ensure the safety of the shop and field employees and that all systems are functioning properly. The ideal candidate is well-versed in administrative and shop work, highly organized, and comfortable with problem-solving any issues that may arise. More than experience and certificates, the candidate must have an innovative attitude and mindset for finding solutions to problems and enjoy the freedom to try new things. A willingness to work hard, get dirty, do the job right, and do what it takes to keep the trucks operating. 90% of this job is administrative, but ultimately, this job requires a person to be flexible with the distribution of workflow as needed.

    Additional info Shop tools and equipment are provided, and we typically hire out bigger repairs, such as engine rebuilding, transmission swaps, rear ends, etc., to a select few shops. Most of our equipment is newer Peterbilt's & John Deere with some older Freightliners.

    This is a local small business, team-type environment with around 22 people. We have been in business for 16 years and have grown steadily every year.

    The blower and slinger truck service industry is steadily fast-growing, specifically because of its labor-saving capabilities. Constantly evolving to blow and place different materials.

    We will fight to protect our team members' choice to breathe fresh air and respect personal exemptions from forced experiments.

    Responsibilities

    Monitor equipment and internal systems and schedule regular maintenance

    Identify any areas or systems in need of repair

    Maintain an adequate supply of inventory and restock when necessary

    Create a cleaning and maintenance schedule

    Ensure recycling and waste removal occur as scheduled

    Maintain detailed financial records

    Research and evaluate potential services and vendors

    Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations

    Starting an inventory system and keeping up to date with the inventory on hand: shop tools, truck parts, equipment, etc.

    Using a computer to process Purchase Orders for parts and equipment necessary to keep the trucks running

    Tracking and handling/assigning the item failures that come through on the daily truck pre-trip inspection forms through our fleet maintenance program

    Perform safety meetings with field and shop crews

    Start a program for oil changes for the trucks and servicing them in-house(oil changes performed by shop employees)

    Create and track preventative maintenance repairs and schedules

    Create and track truck maintenance repairs and schedules

    As-needed basis:

    Welding, fabricating, and repairing augers, shafts, bearings, gearboxes, floor chains, and truck tarps

    Diesel truck and engine repair. Removing/replacing radiators, drivelines, air compressors, belts, hoses, batteries & alternators

    Changing filters - Oil, hydraulic, fuel, and air. Fixing leaks, O-rings, and seals. Greasing equipment, adjusting brakes, and changing lights

    Assist in maintaining small tools and equipment maintenance

    Assist in programming the blower truck computers

    Qualifications

    Experience repairing and diagnosing electric over hydraulic, remote-controlled equipment

    Current Class B or better CDL or willingness to get

    Leadership skills are a must for this position. You would be supervising the workflow and progress of our two shop employees, plus working as a liaison between the shop and the office

    Programmable logic controllers: 1 year (Preferred)

    Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)

    Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    Problem solver who can work well under pressure

    Microsoft Office programs: 3 years (Preferred)

    Willingness to travel: 15%

    Must be able to read, write, and speak English
