PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
- Assume responsibility for planning, supervising, and completing engagements. This means some involvement in all elements of a job, with an ultimate goal of excellent client service. A critical element of this process should include analysis of technical issues, and pre-planning meetings to discuss these issues
- Plan the timing and assigning of staff to engagements
- Research, interpret, and evaluate the tax impact of current and proposed legislation on the quarterly and year-end tax calculations
- Review tax work papers, resolve any problems, and keep the partner informed of all important developments in the engagement. Prepare extensions, estimates, and occasionally returns as needed
- Train and mentor tax staff to develop their skills and abilities
- Prepare client billings. This may include assisting with collections when appropriate
- Evaluate the performance of staff as required by firm policy
- Develop new client contacts and relationships beneficial to the firm. These can be professional, civic, and/or community service contacts
- Assist in administrative functions as assigned by the partners
- Recognize opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA required and a minimum of 7 years of experience at public accounting firms
- Degree in Accounting, MST preferred
- Experience with ProSystem Tax and Engagement preferred
- Broad experience with entity tax compliance, including flow-throughs, and individual compliance
YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong accounting skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive projects under pressure
- Good conceptual, critical thinking, analytical, quantitative skills and the ability to articulate work product
- Excellent computer/technology skills
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Self-starter and resourceful
- Results and process-oriented and accountable
- Problem solver, finisher, and highly organized
