Inpatient Medical Scribe ABC Scribes - Hamilton, OH $10 - $12 an hour - Part-time Who is a Medical Scribe? A scribe is a trained medical information specialist who focuses on charting physician-patient encounters in real-time during the patient's visit. Scribes work alongside a physician in the emergency department, outpatient office, or on rounds in the hospital. Scribes complete non-clinical tasks such as entering the patient history and physical exam into the electronic medical record as the physician interacts with the patient. Scribes also assist the physician in gathering data, such as reports, from the lab or radiology so the physician may then decide on further treatment or disposition of the patient. The scribe may need to enter orders for the physician under direct supervision and may assist in the completion of discharge paperwork. Think of a scribe as a physicians partner in medical documentation. A scribe is expected to enhance the physicians productivity by contemporaneously recording the physicians interactions with the patient.
