Position Summary
An Abstractor is responsible for researching and examining public records and compiling the appropriate search results in a concise and accurate manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Research public records to locate mortgages, sales, and other instruments relating to the property being sold or refinanced and parties involved · Travel to parish Clerk of Courts throughout Louisiana as needed
· Make copies of all pertinent instruments and maps
· Gather property tax information on the subject property
· Identify whether property is encumbered by any mortgages, judgments, or liens
· Prepare Abstract Reports for examination by attorney
· Perform Abstract Updates when requested
· Examine Abstract Reports completed by third-party companies
· Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner
· Completes other tasks as assigned by supervisor
