    About Prep Academy Tutors

Prep Academy Tutors partners with schools, families, and educational organizations throughout San Diego to provide engaging, high-quality academic support for students. We believe learning should be personal, encouraging, and relationship-driven, and we're looking for energetic educators who want to make a meaningful impact.

    About the Position

We're hiring Academic Mentors to support student-athletes during the school day.

This is an on-site position where you'll work with small groups of students, helping them stay on track academically while creating a positive and structured learning environment. Rather than teaching a traditional classroom, you'll act as an academic coach, helping students complete assignments, strengthen their understanding of course material, and develop effective study habits.

This is a great opportunity for aspiring teachers, recent graduates, substitute teachers, graduate students, or anyone passionate about education.

    Responsibilities

    • Support students with daily assignments across a variety of academic subjects.
    • Work with small groups of approximately 10–15 students during scheduled academic periods.
    • Answer questions, reinforce classroom instruction, and help students stay organized.
    • Encourage productive study habits, accountability, and academic confidence.
    • Adapt your support to students with different learning styles and academic needs.
    • Communicate regularly with Prep Academy Tutors staff regarding student progress and any concerns.
    • Collaborate professionally with academy staff to ensure students receive consistent support.

    We're Looking For Someone Who

    • Enjoys working with middle and high school students.
    • Is dependable, organized, and professional.
    • Builds positive relationships while maintaining appropriate expectations.
    • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Can explain concepts clearly and encourage student independence.
    • Is flexible, patient, and comfortable supporting a variety of academic subjects.

    Qualifications

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree or be actively working toward one.

    Ideal candidates may include:

    • Current college seniors or graduate students.
    • Aspiring teachers or individuals enrolled in a credential program.
    • Substitute teachers.
    • Former educators or classroom aides.
    • Tutors with experience working with K–12 students.
    • Subject matter experts with a passion for education.

Experience working with adolescents in schools, camps, sports, after-school programs, mentoring, or tutoring is highly valued.

    What We Offer

    • Competitive hourly pay.
    • Consistent weekday daytime schedule.
    • A supportive team environment.
    • Opportunities for professional growth.
    • The chance to make a meaningful difference in the academic success of student-athletes.
