INSTRUCTOR/EMPLOYMENT COUNSELOR – Nursing Programs
The position of the Instructor/Employment Counselor requires excellent interpersonal skills with staff, faculty, students, community representatives and professional colleagues in all settings. The person in this position must exhibit a pleasant, helpful and supportive demeanor at all times and must have the ability to develop, manage, mentor and direct students.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Participates in the Development, implementation, evaluation and update of the purpose, philosophy, objectives/outcomes and organizational framework of the nursing program.
· Participates in the planning of each learning experience
· Ensures that course objectives/outcomes are accomplished
· Requires a grade of 70% or higher on all theoretical exams
· Requires a passing grade for satisfactory completion of all skills evaluations
· Ensures that students do not perform activities for which they have not received instruction and in which they have not been found competent
· Supervises and evaluates students giving care to clients in clinical areas
· Provides direct supervision in the classroom and in clinical experiences
· Monitors health care professionals who assist in providing program instruction
· Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum.
· Participates in the development, evaluation, and revision of student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies within the policies of the institution.
· Participates in academic advising and guidance of students.
· Evaluates student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes related to nursing knowledge and practice.
· Evaluates teaching effectiveness in accordance with the institution’s policy.
· Participates in a faculty organization which meets regularly and has recorded meetings at the school with the Academic Dean. These meetings provide for faculty involvement in the operation of the program.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, handling, and stretching, frequent interruptions from staff, faculty, and students. Must work in a loud, busy, crowded and volatile environment while supervising clinical visits at clinical sites or in the simulation lab. Constantly moves about to coordinate work

(a)1. For a professional nursing education program, the program director and at least 50 percent of the program’s faculty members are registered nurses who have a master’s or higher degree in nursing or a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s or higher degree in a field related to nursing.
2. For a practical nursing education program, the program director and at least 50 percent of the program’s faculty members are registered nurses who have a bachelor’s or higher degree in nursing.
