    At AMPHS, we believe that education empowers healthier communities. We approach community education through an integrative, social and racial justice lens that lends to health justice. Our education programs equip immigrant populations with the knowledge to help them navigate the complexities of living in a new city and transition into post-secondary education and/or employment opportunities. At the same time, we also educate community members on their immigrant rights, healthy living, nutrition and health access, and create space for civic engagement. Our Adult Literacy classes provide an integrative curriculum that ensures students walk out of their classes with the ability to assimilate into society and become their own advocate. Furthermore, AMPHS offers certification-level classes for professionals and pre-professional students traditionally underrepresented in public health and emergency preparedness fields.

    The Manager of Community Education is responsible for coordinating all aspects of AMPHS’ training and education programs. This includes workshops and training in immigrant rights, civics, health access, health literacy, emergency preparedness (CPR, First Aid, EKG), and Mental Health First Aid, as well as AMPHS’ English as a Second Language Adult Literacy Program and semester-long Clinical Practice Training Program. They will also oversee monthly education programming to advance preventative health and vaccine education in response to COVID-19, as well as education initiatives with AMPHS’ newly-formed Sunset Park Public Health Response Network. The Manager will be responsible for program outreach; instructor recruitment, training, coordination and oversight; program outcome reporting; and providing support to students as needed.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate workshops, classes and trainings, including: developing program structure, fostering relationships and collaborating with community partners; maintaining education event calendars; and arranging teaching facilities
    • Maintain class records and student progress reports; develop reports for funders, including foundations and government contracts
    • Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program’s overall quality improvement
    • Oversee, evaluate and support teaching staff through regular one-on-one and team meetings, curricula design guidance, and classroom observations and assessments
    • Manage participant outreach and recruitment
    • Work with instructors and social work team to identify and address barriers to student success
    • Represent AMPHS’ health and education advocacy platforms with state, city and community leaders and participate in regular coalition meetings
    • Work with senior leadership to monitor program budgets and project expenses
    • Other special projects as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) required; Master’s degree preferred
    • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and/or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) required
    • Prior teaching or instructional experience required
    • Program evaluation experience preferred
    • BEST Plus certification preferred
    • Experience in working with immigrant communities
    • Ability to provide services in a manner sensitive to the backgrounds and cultures of program participants

    WORK REQUIREMENTS:

    • TIME COMMITMENT: This is a full-time position. Saturday and evening availability at least two days a week is required.
    • LOCATION: For COVID-19 safety measures, AMPHS has engaged in a phased re-opening process. As of January 2021, AMPHS’ facilities are only open to AMPHS staff and volunteers on an as-needed basis until the organization and its staff deem it safe to fully re-open facilities for community member appointments. Staff members can opt to work remotely at any time. Classes and workshops also take place remotely.

    COMPENSATION:

    • Annual Salary Range: $60,000-$63,000, commensurate with experience
