    Job Description

    This is a remote position but will require periodic travel for office meeting once deemed safe. Applicants should live in the DC corridor- Philadelphia, New York, DC, VA or MD 

    JOB SUMMARY: The PROGRAM EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT LEAD is a key member of the Research Programs department—the Center for Legal Education Excellence—providing essential knowledge and skills needed to conduct, commission, and support research projects aimed at increasing law school access and affordability and expanding the value of legal education. The position plays a key role in: a) developing and executing program evaluation tools and models, and b) advising internal colleagues, grantees, and external stakeholders in assessment and evaluation methods.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Actively contribute to the Company’s research agenda to further empirical understanding of law school access, affordability, academic and bar success, and the value of legal education.
    • Serve as an expert on program evaluation, assessment and mixed methods research; advise and assist colleagues, grant applicants and recipients, and external consultants with program evaluation design, data analysis, and data interpretation.
    • In close collaboration with research staff, design, manage, and conduct evaluations of LexScholars, a diversity pipeline program designed to improve outcomes for underrepresented minority law school applicants.
    • Work closely with Information Technology and Strategic Engagement departments to maintain data collection tools and responsibly manage data on LexScholars participants.
    • Organize, structure and clean data to permit use for evaluation; perform data analysis to demonstrate the impact of LexScholars curriculum and programming.
    • Design and conduct quality control procedures for data collection, analyses, and reports; produce technical reports describing procedures, data collection, and/or research results.
    • Write evaluation reports and produce visually appealing, easy-to-interpret tables and graphical displays of results for a variety of audiences.
    • Communicate findings to colleagues and other legal education stakeholders in succinct briefs and blogs through cogent prose and graphical modeling.
    • Contribute applicable research and data to the AccessLex Resource Collections to help maintain a repository of evidence supporting the Company’s research objectives, specifically, and those of legal education more generally.
    • Present, with approval from supervisor and as needed, at professional conferences; represent the Center at relevant industry conferences and events.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS) – To succeed in the PROGRAM EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT LEAD position, candidates should possess the following KSAs:
      • REQUIRED
        • Commitment to the Company’s mission and passion for initiatives that support equitable outcomes for underserved and underrepresented student populations
        • Experience evaluating programs and proficiency in program evaluation methods
        • Proficiency in research methods, both qualitative and quantitative
        • Proficiency in statistical software programs (e.g., R Studio, SAS, Stata)
        • Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze data, work with data management systems, and effectively present the results of data analysis
        • Superior project and time management skills; ability to manage and prioritize tasks independently
        • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
        • Self-starter; takes initiative to adapt and modify tasks to accomplish larger goals
        • Flexible to accommodate job responsibilities
        • Superior attention to detail
      • PREFERRED
        • Public speaking and presentation skills
        • Data visualization and graphic design skills
        • Proficiency in R Studio
        • Experience translating statistical terms and methodologies to lay audiences
        • Experience managing and supervising small teams
      • BACKGROUND EXPERIENCES. __ The following are required unless otherwise noted:
        • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, statistics, economics or related field required; graduate degree preferred.
        • Minimum of four years’ experience leading and managing program evaluation is required for bachelor’s degree candidates; three years required for graduate level candidates.
        • Experience designing and leading program evaluation work is required.
        • Experience writing and presenting evaluation and research reports is required.
        • Experience creating compelling data visualizations is preferred.
        • Experience working in higher education and/or a non-profit organization is a plus.
