    Job Description

    The SENIOR MANAGER OF COMMUNICATIONS, reporting into the SENIOR DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS, is responsible for implementing quarterly internal and external plans and initiatives, leading the team’s day-to-day execution on communications -- including announcements, programs and stakeholder management – collaborating across the marketing team and broadly across Accolade’s business.

    A DAY IN THE LIFE…

    Public Relations

    PR strategy and execution -- supports Accolade’s PR strategy by creating compelling story angles, developing announcement and news strategy, and ensuring team execution.

    • Media and influencer relations -- works with Marketing leaders to achieve visibility in business, healthcare, and technology outlets, extending to consumer if/when appropriate. 
    • Market trends and opportunities -- tracks industry and competitor news, looks for opportunities for Accolade response, comments and follow-up on stories.
    • Business Association marketing -- secures content in newsletters/blogs; looks to extend visibility with these audiences for identified national opportunities; works closely with other areas of the marketing team on regional opportunities.
    • Reporting -- manages media coverage and trends, prepares results summaries for regular reviews/reports, promotes and showcases earned media value to executives and internal stakeholders, owns execution and reporting on corporate business objectives tied to PR awareness.

    Thought Leadership Events & Speaking, Awards

    • Events & Speakers’ Bureau -- manages the events and speaking program and calendar, cross-functional integration with other parts of the marketing team, supports all aspects of national event execution.
    • Awards – identify and go after national thought leadership awards for company and executives; build out and manage awards program, collaborate with People & Culture and executive stakeholders.

    Internal Communications

    • Internal Comms strategy and execution – works closely with executive, department and program leaders to communicate messages, news, and create content campaigns that inform and resonate with our 1800+ employees.
    • Internal publishing – stakeholder communication and leadership for the “news room” of internal content publishers, maintain internal publishing calendar and traffic control on message distribution, and manage production of the weekly In Case You Missed It newsletter.
    • Collaborate with other departments, especially People& Culture, to highlight cross-company initiatives and campaigns, including for DEI. Serve as the cross-company integration point for all-company communications.

    Social Media

    • Integrated external communications – partners closely with Social Media specialist to ensure aligned and coordinated social posts tied to PR campaigns and activity, sharing key PR activity, and engagement with media and influencers on social channels coordinated with pitching and earned media plans.
    • Proactive PR/social communication strategy and tactics for announcements, awards, events.

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business/Marketing/Communications / Journalism
    • 8-10 years of communications experience; preference for healthcare experience and a blend of corporate and agency history
    • 2-3 years of leadership experience
    • Strong communicator and presenter, highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and initiatives.
    • Strong writer, familiar with website, marketing, blog and internal communications and writing styles and requirements.
    • Strong project management skills, ability to establish programs and program structures, detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email (Outlook) skills; preferred knowledge of SmartSheets, Jive, and Asana.
    • Experience working in a healthcare environment and/or Business to Business role is a plus.
    • Experience working with high-performing teams and against tight deadlines, supporting the needs of and communicating regularly with multiple stakeholders. / Adaptable and high tolerance for fast-paced environment and change
    • Able to operate under pressure and manage multiple projects under deadlines
