    Job Description

    Private Day School with a 3:1 student to teacher ratio, is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Elementary School SPED Teacher for the 2021-2022 School Year. We serve students with the following disabilities: MD, ID, LD, ED, ASD an OHI. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in teaching as well as being able to develop engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the multiple learning styles of our diverse student population. The candidate should be patient, flexible and skilled in oral and written communications. All students and all staff are expected to be in person for the 2021-2022 School Year. Responsible for teaching English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Remediation classes.

    QUALIFICATIONS: (Only persons who meet the minimum qualifications as posted should apply)

    1. Bachelor's Degree or higher degree with major in assigned area.

    2.  Must possess or be eligible for a teaching license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with an endorsement in Special Education General Curriculum or completion of a bachelor's degree in elementary school education and additional coursework necessary to obtain a teaching license.

    3.  Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred.

    1. Provide three (3) professional references to include: name, title, e-mail address.

    2. Must be able to clear background check, fingerprinting and TB screening.

    JOB DESCRIPTION: DEVELOP A GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE ENTIRE PROGRAM'S K-5 CURRICULUM AND A VERY DETAILED KNOWLEDGE OF THE COURSES FOR WHICH RESPONSIBLE TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES BASED ON THE ACADEMIC NEEDS IDENTIFIED IN STUDENTS' INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PROGRAM (IEPS).

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    1. Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instructional activities consistent with curriculum and share the material in a methodical manner for student growth.

    2. Prepare, submit, and maintain weekly lesson plans that appropriately utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources for each area taught.

    3. Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure that all students are successfully progressing.

    4. Develop and implement quality emergent curriculum that promotes and supports a holistic education for a mixed-age classroom environment and incorporate effective classroom management procedures.

    5. Design individualized education program (IEPs) for students with disabilities.

    6. Consult with other teachers and service providers on student progress and needs. Supervise teaching assistant/dedicated aides as assigned to your classroom.

    7. Strong time management skills and the ability to self-manage reports and grade reporting and updates.

    8. Provide ongoing informal assessments through observation, interactions, and documentation of student growth, utilizing quantitative/qualitative measures, to inform individualized educational planning. Function as member of evaluation teams, writing evaluation reports/summaries (trackers, IEP progress reports, grades, and report cards).

    9. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

    HOURS & SALARY:

    • Full-time position Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:00PM
    • 10 month - Teacher scale is commensurate with experience; opportunity for Extended School Year (ESY)
