City Treasurer
Account Clerk I
Pay rate: $15.36/hr.
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
- Employees will travel within the Virginia Beach area and work at satellite offices.
Job Duties:
- Provide professional customer service over the phone & in-person.
- Cash handling experience.
- Ability to type at least 30wpm & proficiency using 10-key.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Search records for tax due inquiries.
- Accurately process entries for real estate, personal property, permits, utilities, animal licensing, etc.
- Cross-Train with other positions and assist in providing coverage during peak times, sickness or vacations.
- General clerical & office duties as assigned.
- Detail Oriented – review financial and statistical reports to ensure accurate track of information.
- Review records to ensure minimal mathematical errors
- Serve as a Cashier to receive large sums of money for taxes, licenses, utility bills, fees, permits, and miscellaneous.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school or GED plus six (6) months’ experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities, such as bookkeeping or clerical accounting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
- May require a passing score of 30 words per minute on a typing test
