    gb&d is the only publication dedicated to sustainable design in the built environment. We help building product manufacturers reach architects and design professionals through detailed reporting, educational editorial, print and digital advertising, and integrated marketing programs. We're looking for an Account Executive to build and manage a portfolio of manufacturer partnerships.

    What you'll do

    You'll own a portfolio of building product manufacturer accounts, selling custom content marketing and integrated media packages. Your work includes prospecting new manufacturer clients, developing proposals tailored to their marketing goals, presenting campaigns alongside our senior team, and managing client relationships from first contact through renewal. You'll attend 4–6 industry trade shows per year where you'll meet clients, build relationships, and represent gb&d to the architecture and construction community.

    This is a consultative sale, not a transactional one. You're helping manufacturers solve a real problem: how to get their products specified by architects. That means understanding their business, their products, and their audience before you ever pitch a campaign.

    What we offer

    • $85,000 base salary with uncapped commission. Year 1 OTE of $115,000–$125,000.
    • Industry access: 35+ annual trade shows, and direct relationships with decision-makers at the companies shaping the built environment.
    • A small, experienced team where your contribution is visible and your ideas shape the business.
    • Hybrid schedule: weekly in-person team meetings in Chicago, otherwise flexible.

    What we're looking for

    • 2–5 years of B2B sales experience with a track record of meeting or exceeding quota. You can speak to specific numbers.
    • Experience selling something that requires a signed contract and a consultative process — not order-taking or inbound-only sales.
    • Proven ability to prospect and build pipeline through outbound outreach. You've done the work of finding your own deals.
    • Strong written communication. You'll write proposals, not just give demos.
    • Based in Chicago or willing to relocate.

    Bonus if you have

    • Experience in media sales, publishing, content marketing, or advertising sales.
    • Familiarity with architecture, construction, or building products.
    • Experience selling custom content or integrated marketing programs.
