    Job Title: Account Manager

    Boston-based worker-owned cooperative seeks a motivated and relationship-driven Account Manager for its growing commercial composting business. The ideal candidate has experience in customer service, account management, or sales and is passionate about sustainability and cooperative business values.

    A typical schedule for this position is 20 hours per week, with the potential to transition to full-time employment within 3–6 months. Compensation: $21.00 per hour to start, increasing to $22.00 per hour upon transition to full-time.

    CERO (Cooperative Energy, Recycling, and Organics) is an award-winning commercial composting company based in Dorchester and Roxbury, MA. We provide food waste pickup and diversion services for a wide range of commercial clients in Greater Boston and transport compostables to local farms where they are returned to the soil to support the local agricultural economy. Our mission is simple: keep food waste out of landfills, save money for our clients, and provide good green jobs for Boston’s hard-working communities.

    CERO is a multicultural, multilingual, worker-owned cooperative that began operations in 2014 and currently serves more than 70 locations across Eastern Massachusetts, diverting over 50 tons of organics every week.

    Responsibilities

    Serve as the lead point of contact for all customer account management matters.

    Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients.

    Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximize profitability.

    Develop trusted relationships with key accounts, stakeholders, and executive sponsors.

    Ensure the timely and successful delivery of services that meet customer needs and goals.

    Communicate progress of monthly and quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.

    Identify opportunities for growth and improvement with existing clients.

    Forecast and track key account metrics (e.g., quarterly sales results, annual forecasts).

    Prepare and maintain reports on account status and performance.

    Collaborate with the operations and sales teams to identify new opportunities.

    Assist with escalated customer issues and work toward effective resolutions.

    Qualifications

    Minimum 2 years of experience in account management and/or customer service.

    Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

    Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.

    Exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to anticipate and solve problems before they arise.

    Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn digital systems quickly.
