A leading international fresh produce organization seeks an Account Manager who has a solid background in fresh produce sales, and who is looking to grow in their career with a prominent company and a known, respected brand.
Seek experience working closely with key national accounts, developing new business, increasing share with customers, and working with the pace and changes of the fresh produce industry.
Position to be based in the West, with preferences in California and the Salinas Valley region.
About the role:
The Account Manager is responsible for managing, developing, and growing strategic retail and wholesale accounts. This role will drive revenue growth, develop strong customer partnerships, and collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality produce to customers. The position will focus on achieving customer specific goals and company strategic goals.
What the position will accomplish:
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with existing company accounts and grow these accounts in accordance with the company strategic sales plan.
- Conduct sales calls, schedule promotional volumes and prices, monitor sales to identify new and organic growth opportunities in accordance with the strategic sales plan.
- Propose customer visit schedules with meeting purposes and agendas to advance relationships.
- Prepare and propose annual sales plan/budget by account by product for review with Sales Directors.
- Propose and execute retail digital activations to penetrate e-commerce retail promotions.
- Present and effectively execute company’s marketing initiatives to Retail Trade.
- Provide no less than quarterly evaluations of customer to the Sales leadership team with recommendations to increase organic growth.
- Accountable for accurate order entry into company system and monitor status of orders
- Expected to be aware of the competitive environment and report to manager and team, on a real time basis, to achieve market leadership.
- Able to respond to unexpected supply changes by formulating plans to ensure client’s needs are met.
- Expected to participate in department meetings and video conference calls.
- Partner with Finance to assure prompt collection of assigned account receivables.
- Provides backup as needed to other Account Managers/Product Managers during their absence.
- Foster World Class Service in customer relationships and value-added market leadership.
Experience sought:
- Bachelor Degree or relevant experience with 5 years minimum produce industry
- Prior fresh berry sales experience a plus
- Ability to act independently and make competent decisions without supervision
- Must have excellent computer skills with knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Itrade; Procurant and SAP helpful.
- Individual must be detail oriented and an effective communicator to others.

- Available after hours and weekends as needed
The base salary the company may reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $110,000 to $165,000. The actual salary for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience. The base salary range does not include other benefits and potential bonus for the position.
