General Ledger Accountant – BRT Extrusions

A General Ledger Accountant is responsible for recording and maintaining accurate financial transactions within a company's general ledger system, ensuring data integrity by posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial information, and producing accurate financial reports to support management decision-making, all while adhering to established accounting standards and regulations; collaborating with other departments to gather necessary data and resolve accounting discrepancies.

Responsibilities of the General Ledger Accountant:

• Journal Entries: Accurately input financial transactions into the general ledger system by creating and posting journal entries for various business activities including sales, purchases, payroll, and expenses.
• Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies, including bank statements, customer receivables, and vendor payables.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for management review.
• Month-End and Year-End Closing: Participate in the month-end and year-end closing process, including accruals, deferrals, and adjustments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Treasury Management: Cash management, wire and ACH transfers.
• Compliance with Standards: Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting regulations to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial records.
• Internal Controls: Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
• Auditing Support: Provide documentation and support to external auditors during the audit process.
• Collaboration with Departments: Work closely with other departments like sales, operations, and purchasing to gather necessary financial data and address accounting queries.

Requirements to be successful as the General Ledger Accountant:

• 3-5 years' experience in a corporate accounting role
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in accounting software (Sage)
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Will follow all Company policies and procedures
• Will participate in all required job and or employment related trainings

Physical requirements:

An individual in this role will be able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn frequently. An individual in this role will need to be always aware of movement and/or noises around them when in the plant. An individual in this role must move 5lbs frequently and up to 10lbs occasionally. An individual in this role will remain stationary and move about an office setting as needed per essential duties of the position. An individual in this role will be an effective communicator verbally and in writing. This position will require frequent use of office equipment: primarily phone, computer, and all other office equipment as part of the essential functions of the role. This position may be required to move about in the plant environment where the temperature fluctuates. This role may be required to traverse the plant and to always be aware of movement and noises around them.
