Position Description:
Support the finance team by applying strong accounting knowledge and attention to detail to manage the financial operations that support complex mass tort settlements. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial documentation, efficient accounting workflows, and clear communication with internal teams, external partners, and auditors. The Accountant contributes to Milestone’s mission of delivering principled, client-centered legal solutions with empathy and precision.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly consolidated balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books
Monitor and review bank statements and prepare bank reconciliations monthly
Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
Prepare invoices and reconcile accounts receivable monthly
Assist in necessary tax filings
Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform monthly recording and annual financial statement preparation and annual financial statement preparation
Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
