    Job Overview

    We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Accountant to support a large, complex organization in a structured and deadline-driven environment. This role focuses on general budget-related accounting work, including preparing and reviewing journal entries and performing account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.

    The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, is comfortable working with financial data, and enjoys contributing to sound financial management and reporting. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Experience Requirements:

    • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional accounting experience
    • Experience with data entry and financial record maintenance
    • Experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations
    • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting
    • Experience working with financial data in a structured accounting environment
    • Prepare, review, and post journal entries
    • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations
    • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Knowledge of applicable federal regulations and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Standards.
    • Experience handling monthly postings, reconciliations, and reporting for GASB 87 and GASB 96, including entering leases, contracts, and amendments accurately into lease management software.
    • Support budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis
    • Maintain accurate general ledger records
    • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies or trends
    • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting standards
    • Support audits and provide requested financial documentation
    • Collaborate with internal departments on financial matters

    Experience Preferences:

    • Experience supporting budget development or financial planning activities
    • Experience in a large, public-sector, or regulated organization
    • Familiarity with ERP or enterprise accounting systems
    • Experience with month-end and year-end close processes

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
    • Ability to concentrate on detailed financial work for sustained periods
    • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds
    • Minimal physical exertion required

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

    Education Preferences:

    • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
    • CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification (or progress toward certification)
    • Ongoing professional development in accounting standards or financial reporting
