Insero Talent Solutions is recruiting an Accounting Administrator for a government office in Norwich, NY.
Accounting Administrator
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Create, review and instruct staff on journal entry posting for 8 different County Funds
- Review monthly Treasurer and GL Balance reports for accuracy prior to the disbursement to County departments
- Execute resolutions from the Board of Supervisors and oversee spending/receipts according to those instructions
- Assist departments in developing plans for spending grant and aid funding for Board resolution creation
- Oversee/Review Reconciliations for 3 banks, 38 accounts, assisting staff in finding items for correction
- Analyze investment options and direct bank partners in purchase of investments
- Year-end, modified accrual closing of County budgets
- Prepare and file the County’s Annual Financial Report with the NYS Comptroller
- Create Financial Notes for Year-End
- Work with External Auditors to create County Financial Reports
- Assist with the County Single Audit
- Prepare Schedules for Fixed Assets, Intangible Assets and SBITA assets, inclusive of depreciation and amortization from reports provided by External Auditors
- Oversee encumbrances, and advise on year-end resolutions for items like social security, retirement, salary escrow and utilities
PAYROLL RELATED (preferred, not required)
- Review and authorize biweekly payroll taxes, ensuring that payroll software is functioning correctly
- Develop processes and work with IT staff to ensure any new requirements for payroll taxes, new payroll deductions, or pension items are handled correctly.
- Prepare quarterly reports for Federal and State withholding taxes
EDUCATION:
- BA in Accounting, plus 3-5 years’ experience
- Preferred: MS in Accounting – CPA or CPA-Track, Governmental Accounting Experience
