    PIIAC is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support the organization’s daily financial operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial software, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures. The Accounting Assistant will work with and manage the financials for three organizations – PIIAC, ASC and the PIIAC Foundation.

    This is an in-office position. Hybrid opportunity to be discussed after 6 months.

    Responsibilities

    Process invoices, manage accounts payable, and track outstanding payments.

    Accurately process and pay 500+ commission payments monthly.

    Handle bank deposits and maintain accurate financial records.

    Oversee credit card transactions and ensure proper documentation.

    Maintain vendor records and ensure policy compliance.

    Support budget reporting and financial data tracking.

    Assist with audits, compliance reporting, and special financial projects.

    Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reports which summarize and forecast the association's business activity and financial position. Reconcile balance sheet accounts to subsidiary ledgers.

    Assist with preparation of information for the annual audit and answer auditor’s questions.

    Establish and maintain bank and investment accounts.

    Support month-end, year-end closing processes.

    Year-end processing of 1099s to various vendors.

    Minimum Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred but no required.

    2-5 years of professional experience in a finance.

    Experience with accrual accounting preferred.

    Experience with insurance accounting not required but ideal.

    Experience with not for profit and intercompany accounting not required but ideal.

    Experienced in QuickBooks Online.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

    Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

    Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    High level of professionalism, integrity, and fiscal responsibility.

    Willingness to be cross-trained and adaptable to evolving responsibilities.

    Ability to handle all confidential information with the utmost discretion.
