  • Responsibilities

    One of our clients located in Annapolis, MD is looking for an Accounting Clerk. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity with lots of growth potential!

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for receiving, recording, and reconciling payments for water/sewer utilities, real estate taxes, personal property taxes, and other municipal fees.
    • Receive and process payments for utility bills, property taxes, and other municipal charges via cash, check, money order, credit/debit, and electronic methods.
    • Verify payment amounts, validate account numbers, and issue receipts.
    • Balance cash drawer daily and reconcile all transactions in accordance with City finance procedures.
    • Prepare deposits and maintain accurate financial records for audit purposes.
    • Identify and report discrepancies, errors, or suspected fraudulent activity.
    • Provide prompt and courteous assistance to residents regarding their bills, payment options, due dates, penalties, and account status.
    • Follow all City finance policies, internal control procedures, and audit requirements.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Experience handling cash and financial transactions.
    • Experience working in municipal government, public utilities, or tax collection preferred.
    • Knowledge of general accounting principles or payment processing procedures.
    • Strong customer service and communication skills.
    • Ability to perform accurate math calculations and maintain detailed records.
