Position Overview
The Accounting Director will oversee a broad portfolio of operational accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls across the organization. This leader will guide teams responsible for payables, refunds, cash movement activities, tax-related processes, and audit support. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving workflows, strengthening compliance, and partnering across departments to support the company’s financial health.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to accounting team members responsible for day-to-day payables, reimbursements, and refund activities.
- Oversee procedures related to vendor payments, employee expenses, and customer-related disbursements, ensuring accuracy, timely resolution, and well-documented processes.
- Support treasury operations by coordinating with banking partners, internal finance teams, and other stakeholders on cash activity, reconciliations, and transactional oversight.
- Manage compliance-oriented tasks such as sales/use tax filings, business license renewals, information reporting, and other routine state or regulatory submissions.
- Serve as a key contributor during internal and external audits by preparing documentation, addressing inquiries, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, ensuring processes are designed effectively and consistently followed throughout the accounting function.
- Identify opportunities to digitize, streamline, or automate recurring workflows to increase efficiency and reduce manual workload.
- Track, evaluate, and report operational metrics/KPIs to monitor performance trends and process effectiveness.
- Collaborate with leaders across finance, operations, legal, and compliance to support projects, technology enhancements, and policy updates.
- Participate in broader organizational initiatives that impact accounting systems, data flow, or process alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Significant experience in accounting roles with increasing responsibility, including management & oversight.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and process-driven operations.
- Skilled in working across departments and communicating effectively with leaders at all levels.
- Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and comfort working with high-volume or complex datasets.
