    ABOUT ROOT CAUSES MEDICINE

Root Causes Medicine is an integrative and functional medicine clinic in San Antonio, TX. We are dedicated to a simple but radical idea: that the body, given the right environment, has a profound capacity to heal. Our practitioners don't just treat symptoms — they ask what's actually causing them. We serve a growing community of members navigating complex, chronic, and serious health conditions — and we take that responsibility seriously.

We're building something meaningful here, and we need people who want to be part of that — not just punch a clock.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an Accounting & Finance Specialist to own the day-to-day financial operations of Root Causes Medicine. This isn't a passive bookkeeping role. You will be the connective tissue between what we spend, what we earn, what we owe, and what the numbers actually mean for the business.

You will work closely with our Head of Practice and CFO, keeping the financial picture accurate and current so leadership can make confident decisions. You'll also interact regularly with clinical staff, vendors, and department leads — which means you need to be comfortable getting information from people who don't think in spreadsheets.

    WHAT YOU'LL OWN

    • Accounts payable — vendor invoices, payment processing, aging reports, dispute resolution
    • Accounts receivable — patient and payer payments, cash application, collections follow-up
    • Payroll processing — accurate and on-time, every time
    • Purchasing support — purchase order management, vendor reconciliation, and coordination with our supplement and supply inventory process
    • Month-end and year-end close — reconciliations, schedules, and reporting
    • Expense compliance — reviewing and processing reimbursements against policy
    • Internal reporting — recurring financial reports and schedules for leadership
    • Audit support — organized records and responsive support when needed
    • Financial systems — manage implementation of new financial systems and own data migration
    • Process improvement — identifying and flagging inefficiencies as we grow

    WHO YOU ARE

    • You are proactive and resourceful — you don't wait for information to land in your Inbox, you are proactive in finding information, collaborative in accessing it and organized in archiving it.
    • You are comfortable in a healthcare environment, where informal channels are as important as formal ones.
    • You are numbers-fluent and detail-oriented — errors bother you before anyone else notices them.
    • You are results-oriented, deadline-driven, and calm under the pressure of close cycles.
    • You can communicate numbers to people without financial expertise.
    • You have high integrity — you handle sensitive information with discretion

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    • 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience
    • Experience in healthcare or professional services strongly preferred
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
    • Strong Excel skills — you use it to solve problems, not just record them
    • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting

    WHAT WE OFFER

    • A mission that matters — work that connects to something real
    • Access to RCM's world-class practitioners for you and your family
    • A collaborative, high-standards team that takes quality seriously
    • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
