    ROLE OVERVIEW

    Kwik Lok is seeking a motivated Accounting Intern to join our dynamic team in our headquarters office, based in Yakima, Washington. You'll report to our Accounting Manager as you receive guidance and mentorship from experienced accounting professionals. You'll work in a collaborative office setting with opportunities to interact regularly with cross-functional teams.

    In this role, you'll support our financial operations while gaining proficiency with industry-standard accounting tools and software, build foundational skills in financial analysis and internal controls, and develop hands-on experience in core accounting functions in a manufacturing context. This temporary paid internship will run through the end of summer, with a possible assignment extension.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

    • Assist with data entry and reconciliation by entering financial transactions into accounting software and reconciling accounts, including accounts payable and receivable.
    • Support the processing of vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
    • Help prepare basic financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries, under the guidance of senior accountants.
    • Aid in gathering documentation for internal and external audits.
    • Participate in special projects, such as process improvements or system implementations, as assigned.
    • This position supports Kwik Lok production activities through the manufacture of Kwik Lok closures with a focus on continuing improvement of quality, food safety, and manufacturing processes.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with coursework in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, academic standing as a Junior, Senior or graduate student.
    • Basic understanding of fundamental accounting principles and financial statements.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling numerical data.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
    • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and background screenings.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

    KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Familiarity with ERP accounting software a plus (we use NetSuite).
    • Extremely organized and proactive.
    • Can collaborate with others and work independently.
    • Ability to prioritize workload completion under tight deadlines.
    • Approaches work with an innovative spirit, is eager to learn, and is constantly focused on continual improvement.

    ALL THE DETAILS…

    • Pay commensurate with experience: Undergraduate: $18.00/hour, Graduate: $21.00/hour
    • Schedule: Flexible hours between 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday – Friday, depending on intern availability. Possible opportunity to work full-time based on company need and intern availability.
    • Insurance/Retirement benefits – only eligible for full-time interns
      • Insurance benefits – Medical, dental, vision, prescription, life, and disability insurance plans (60-day waiting period)
      • Retirement Benefits: 401K Plan with company match (90 day waiting period - restrictions apply)
    • Paid time off: (90-day waiting period, prorated for first fiscal year)
      • Holidays: 64.5 hours a year (8.5 days): 1 Floating Holiday, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and the Friday following, half day on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
      • Sick Leave : 40 hours a year, accrued at 1 hour per 40 hours worked.
    • Work location: In office in Yakima, Washington. This position is NOT eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
    • Work environment: Office setting. Regularly sitting and/or standing at a computer. Constantly hearing, seeing, and talking. Noise level in office environment 10dB.
