    A well-established and innovative materials manufacturer is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead site-level financial operations at its Washington, GA based production facility.

     

    This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys being hands-on—not just reviewing spreadsheets, but also actively engaging in the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will regularly spend time in the warehouse and on the loading dock to verify inventory firsthand and maintain control over material flow and accuracy.

     

    Position Summary

    The Accounting Manager will partner closely with both the plant floor and corporate teams to ensure the accuracy of cost accounting, inventory controls, and production reporting. This is a high-impact position that requires a blend of analytical skills and operational involvement.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee internal controls related to purchasing, receiving, shipping, and inventory transactions
    • Ensure standard cost accuracy and monitor bill of materials for production
    • Conduct regular audits of materials and production departments to ensure compliance
    • Prepare cost modeling, weekly forecasts, and site-level budgets
    • Analyze and present cost variances, material usage, and overhead absorption
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to provide product cost insights and support new product launches
    • Interface regularly with both plant leadership and corporate accounting

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
    • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (JDE or equivalent preferred)
    • Ability and willingness to work in and around the warehouse and production areas to audit and verify inventory
    • Excellent communication and analytical skills
