Bigfoot Roofing & Construction is a growing construction company serving the Jacksonville area with a focus on quality workmanship and strong customer relationships. As we continue to expand, we’re looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to oversee our day-to-day accounting operations and support accurate, timely financial reporting.

Staff Accountant Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for daily accounting functions, overseeing month-end close, and ensuring accurate financial records with a strong emphasis on construction and Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting. This role will work closely with leadership to support and maintain strong internal controls.

What You’ll Do as a Staff Accountant

Process and support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

Assist with payroll coordination and related entries

Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy

Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

Perform account reconciliations (bank, credit cards, balance sheet accounts)

Support Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and job cost tracking

Maintain accurate job costing records and assist with financial reporting

Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards

Assist with budgeting and cash flow tracking as needed

Support external accountants and auditors when required

What We’re Looking for in a Staff Accountant

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)

3+ years of accounting experience (construction industry strongly preferred)

Experience with WIP accounting and job costing required

Solid understanding of basic GAAP principles

Proficiency in accounting software

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
