Accounting Manager - Distribution - Base Salary to 100k/year - Hoffman Estates, IL
Our client, a growing specialty distribution company serving the commercial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical industries, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team in the Hoffman Estates, IL area.
This onsite role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, treasury activities, sales tax compliance, and accounting staff supervision. The Accounting Manager will work directly with company leadership and play a key role in financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP transition initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on accounting leadership experience within a distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or industrial environment and have experience managing the full accounting cycle in a small-to-mid-sized business setting.
Responsibilities:
Manage full-cycle accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement preparation
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, variance analyses, and supporting documentation for leadership review
Partner with company leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities
Monitor working capital, collections, vendor payments, and cash positioning
Oversee multi-state sales tax compliance, filings, nexus tracking, and coordination with external tax partners
Support ERP system transition activities from QuickBooks Enterprise to Microsoft Dynamics
Supervise accounting staff, including workload management, training, and cross-functional support
Maintain internal accounting controls and support process improvement initiatives
Utilize Excel for financial analysis, reporting, reconciliations, and data management
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience within a distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, industrial, or related environment
Hands-on experience managing the full accounting cycle including AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, and financial close
Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reporting
