Accounting Manager – Construction Portfolio (Orange County, CA | Onsite)
We’re partnering with two established construction firms with decades of successful project delivery across California. This hybrid Accounting Manager role oversees all accounting operations, reporting, and financial control functions across both entities while leading office management, process improvement, and team culture initiatives.
The Opportunity
This position plays a key role in driving accuracy, compliance, and collaboration across multiple business units. Reporting directly to the Unit President, you’ll serve as the accounting and operations anchor — aligning financial reporting, internal controls, and team development with company objectives.
Core Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities, including AP, AR, payroll coordination, and general ledger maintenance.
Manage month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and internal financial reporting.
Oversee cash management, local banking activity, and sales/use tax filings.
Partner with leadership to analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide data-driven insights.
Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls; design process improvements that strengthen accuracy and efficiency.
Coordinate job start and close-out processes, including contract billing, lien rights, and documentation.
Supervise and develop accounting support staff and office administration personnel.
Support human resources, hiring, and cultural alignment within the accounting and admin teams.
Collaborate with senior management on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
Support multi-entity integration, system enhancements, and cross-department communication.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within construction or specialty contracting.
Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, financial controls, and job cost accounting.
Proven ability to manage multiple entities and deliver results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency; experience with Penta or comparable systems preferred.
Leadership experience with demonstrated success in coaching and team development.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
