    About Us

Kai Family Office is a longstanding family business comprising a collection of diverse businesses with multiple entities concentrated in real estate. We are located on the Northwest side of Tucson. Our office is dynamic and fast-paced. We offer a competitive salary, paid time off and health benefits.

    About the Role

The Accounting Manager role is a working, hands-on accounting leader responsible for executing the day-to-day accounting while also serving as the primary financial point of contact for ownership. We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting operations of a dynamic family office with a diverse, multi-entity portfolio.

The position requires someone who is equally comfortable booking entries and closing the books as they are explaining financials, cash flow, and property performance directly to the family on a daily basis.

We are looking for a true doer—someone who owns the accounting from start to finish and does not rely on a large team.

The portfolio spans 40+ entities across multiple industries, including residential and commercial real estate, real estate development, RV parks, mobile home communities, agricultural operations (pecan orchards and farm leases), joint ventures, and family trust structures.

This position will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable processes while supporting strategic decision-making across the enterprise. Duties include communicating financial activity and results to cross-functional groups and executive leadership. The role will collaborate with our third-party partner, Fintrepid Solutions.

This is an opportunity for career development with a path to the Controller (lead accounting) position.

    Key Responsibilities

Oversee full-cycle accounting for 40+ entities including GL, AP/AR, inventory and consolidations

    Lead monthly close process

Prepare and review financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual)

Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies

Manage real estate portfolio accounting across property types

Handle intercompany transactions and joint venture accounting

Oversee treasury, cash management, and banking relationships

Coordinate with external CPAs for tax and audit

Manage and mentor accounting team (3 staff)

Implement internal controls and process improvements

Provide financial insights to leadership and support strategic decisions

    Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA preferred)

7-10 years of progressive accounting experience; 3+ years supervisor experience

Experience in real estate and multi-entity environments required

Family office or closely held business experience preferred

Knowledge of GAAP, ERP systems, and financial reporting

Experience with treasury and banking relationships

Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
