Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s day‑to‑day accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting. This role provides leadership to the accounting team, manages the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, and maintains strong internal controls to support effective financial governance. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader who excels in both strategic oversight and detailed analysis, contributing to a reliable and efficient finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll processing, and banking activities.
Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
Reconcile accounts, review journal entries, and ensure proper documentation and compliance with GAAP.
Prepare and review internal financial reports, variance analyses, and KPI tracking.
Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data across all systems.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; provide coaching and performance feedback.
Coordinate team workload to ensure deadlines are met.
Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, tax requirements, and company policies.
Support audit activities (internal and external) by preparing schedules and documentation.
Evaluate current accounting processes and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Support implementation of new accounting software, modules, or technology solutions.
Standardize processes across departments to improve financial transparency and collaboration.
Partner with HR, operations, and other internal teams to ensure smooth financial workflows.
Provide financial insights to support decision-making at the departmental and organizational levels.
Assist with special projects, cost analysis, and strategic initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred; however, extensive accounting experience may substitute for formal education.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 1–3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.
Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Close attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
Full-time, on-site position with standard business hours.
Occasional extended hours during month-end, year-end, and audit periods.
