Our client is a locally owned and operated company with a strong position in its market and annual revenue typically between $14M-$18M. The company distributes medical supplies nationwide, with a concentration on the West Coast, and supports both major hospitals and regional clinics.
As the business continues to evolve, they are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager who can bring leadership, sound judgment, and structure to the accounting function. Working closely with the owner and leadership team, this person will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and provide the information leadership needs to make thoughtful business decisions.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who is comfortable moving between the details and the bigger picture. This is a visible role for someone who enjoys improving processes, developing a team, and serving as a trusted financial partner within a growing company.
Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the owner and leadership team, providing financial insight and supporting sound business decisions as the company continues to grow and evolve.
- Lead the day-to-day accounting function, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage the month-end close process and preparation of accurate, timely financial statements and management reports.
- Provide analysis related to profitability, inventory, expenses, cash flow, and other financial trends that affect the business.
- Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, controls, and workflows to support accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Manage cash reporting and support cash forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities.
- Oversee key expenditures and financial records related to fixed assets, leases, vendors, travel, and other operating expenses.
- Lead, support, and develop accounting team members while creating clear expectations and strong accountability.
- Coordinate with outside financial partners and support banking, insurance, tax, and audit-related needs.
- Ensure required business and occupancy tax returns and other financial filings are completed accurately and on time.
Accounting Manager Qualifications
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading an accounting function or team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, or accounting within a distribution or manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to work closely with owners, executives, or senior leaders and translate financial information into practical business insight.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to develop staff, improve processes, and maintain accountability.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems; Great Plains and Report Writer experience is preferred.
Compensation: $100k - $105k + Benefits
