Job Title: Accounting Manager (Operations & Internal Controls)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a disciplined and process-driven Accounting Manager to lead the operational backbone of our finance department. This is a high-impact role centered on the "Three Pillars" of our daily financial integrity: Accounts Payable, Expense Management (T&E), and Internal Controls.
In a financial services environment, precision is our product. You will be the architect of our spending policies and the guardian of our internal safeguards, ensuring that every dollar moved is documented, authorized, and compliant.
Core Responsibilities
1\. Accounts Payable & Cash Flow ManagementFull-Cycle AP: Own the end-to-end accounts payable function, ensuring vendors are paid accurately and timely while optimizing our cash-outflow strategy.
Vendor Relations: Manage all third-party vendor relationships, including 1099 reporting, W-9 collection, and resolving billing discrepancies.
System Optimization: Oversee the AP automation platform (e.g., Bill.com, AvidXchange) to reduce manual entry and increase processing speed.
Policy Enforcement: Act as the primary administrator for the firm’s travel and expense policy, ensuring all employee reimbursements align with company and IRS guidelines.
Corporate Card Program: Manage the corporate credit card program, including issuance, limit monitoring, and monthly reconciliation of statements.
Platform Management: Lead the administration of our expense reporting software (e.g., Concur, Expensify, or Ramp), providing training and support to staff.
Control Architecture: Design, implement, and monitor robust internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) to prevent fraud and minimize errors.
Audit Liaison: Serve as a key stakeholder during annual audits, providing documentation and "walkthroughs" of AP and expense processes.
Process Documentation: Maintain a comprehensive "standard operating procedure" (SOP) manual for all operational accounting functions.
Accrual Management: Lead the month-end accrual process to ensure all expenses are captured in the correct period.
Budget Variance: Partner with department heads to analyze monthly spend vs. budget, identifying trends and potential cost-saving opportunities.
The Ideal Profile
Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a specific focus on AP and internal controls. Experience in Financial Services (Banking, Insurance, or Wealth Management) is highly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) is a significant plus.
Technical Proficiency: * Advanced Excel skills.
Experience with mid-market ERPs (Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics).
Familiarity with automated expense and AP platforms.
