    About the Role

    As a member of the Finance & Accounting team, this role will report to KAI’s Controller. The Accounting Specialist works closely with the Controller and Billing/AR Specialist. The Accounting Specialist plays an integral role in maintaining the integrity of project budget and accounting processes at KAI.

    Responsibilities

    Finance, Accounting, Payroll

    • Conduct reconciliation of all accounts on monthly and as needed basis

    • Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner

    • Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments.

    • Maintain 1099 vendor files and setups

    • Corporate Credit Card reconciliation, coding, and gift card purchases.

    • Expense report processing to adhere with FAR/FTR regulations

    • Coordinate invoices by appropriately coding and matching to appropriate projects and budget line items in multiple contracts

    • Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data to assist with month end close

    • Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards

    • Other assigned financial tasks as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)

    • Minimum 2-4 years of experience working in diverse accounting roles

    • 1-2 years Deltek, Costpoint or other job costing software experience (preferred)

    • Experience with payroll (preferred)

    • Experience with federal, state, or local government contracts (preferred)

    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP

    • High proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)

    Contact with Others

    The Accounting Specialist will communicate face-to-face, by email, and by telephone with clients, other members of the team, and other KAI staff and subcontractors as required. Interactions will include simple exchanges of information, coordination of activities, receipt of assignments and other instruction, and regular invitations to independent problem solving.

    Job Conditions

    The Accounting Specialist position is fully remote. The position may include limited travel, occasional meetings after hours, occasional extended hours, and interruptions from time-to-time. Close computer work for extended periods of time will be required.
