    Position Summary

    We are seeking a highly organized, detail-driven Accounting Specialist to manage a broad range of accounting and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced transportation environment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely invoicing and collections, supporting carrier compliance documentation, and protecting the integrity of internal accounting controls.

    The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and capable of handling multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.

    Accounts Receivable & Customer Billing

    Prepare, review, and issue accurate customer invoices

    Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up to ensure timely payment

    Research and resolve billing discrepancies

    Maintain detailed and accurate customer records

    Carrier & Accounts Payable Support

    Process carrier invoices and confirm documentation accuracy

    Review and obtain Proof of Deliveries (PODs)

    Communicate with carriers regarding payment status and missing documentation

    Ensure carrier information remains current and compliant

    Financial Operations & Controls

    Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

    Maintain financial historical records through proper filing and documentation

    Follow internal accounting controls to safeguard company assets

    Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and customer information

    Operational Support

    Maintain a clean, organized work area

    Collaborate with operations and leadership to resolve issues

    Perform other related duties as assigned

    May be temporarily rotated to other departments as business needs require

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field

    Or equivalent previous experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, or similar position

    Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

    Experienced in QuickBooks and basic accounting systems

    Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills

    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

    Excellent computer skills and ability to learn internal systems quickly

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    High level of accuracy and attention to detail

    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Professional, tactful, and service-oriented when working with customers and vendors

    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
