Job Title: Accounting Supervisor
Job Summary: The Accounting Supervisor oversees the Accounts Payable (AP) and Revenue Accounting teams, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Collaborating with Accountants and the Accounting Manager, this role provides critical financial insights to senior management through data analysis, report preparation, journal entries, and account reconciliations. The position drives process improvements, ensures compliance with policies, and fosters team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily and month-end AP activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements in compliance with company policies, including three-way matching and proper authorization.
- Oversee revenue recognition processes, maintaining schedules and meeting weekly and period-end reporting deadlines while ensuring adherence to company revenue policies.
- Prepare and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and inter-company transactions for expense and revenue accounts.
- Record Concur, payroll, and expense accruals; maintain Avalara sales tax system and prepare monthly sales tax filings.
- Conduct monthly financial statement analyses, document variance explanations, and present findings to senior management.
- Document and update AP workflows, policies, and internal controls to enhance compliance and efficiency.
- Assist with period-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare deliverables for internal and external audits related to AP and revenue functions.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate team members, setting annual goals, conducting performance appraisals, and advising on non-routine transactions to support professional growth.
- Drive system and process improvements, including participation in special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience in a fast-paced environment, with a proven ability to meet strict deadlines, including monthly close schedules.
- Strong supervisory skills with experience leading and developing teams.
- In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and AICPA guidelines.
- Exceptional analytical and accounting skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented culture.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office; experience with enterprise-level ERP systems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
