Position Overview
Our Company is seeking a Controller / CPA to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, producing reliable reporting, and ensuring all tax obligations are properly managed. This role requires a candidate who is comfortable taking full ownership of both accounting and tax functions.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, practical tax experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Manage full-cycle accounting in QuickBooks Desktop
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Perform account reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity
Oversee multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions
Maintain financial records (digital and physical) in an organized and audit-ready state
Analyze financial transactions and prepare clear, actionable reports
Tax & Compliance (Core Responsibility)
Prepare, review, and manage:
Federal income tax filings
Texas franchise tax filings
Sales and use tax reporting
Maintain full visibility over tax obligations, filings, and deadlines
Coordinate with external advisors as needed, while retaining internal ownership of tax accuracy
Monitor compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations
Respond to audits, notices, and tax-related inquiries
Ensure all tax positions are well-supported, consistent, and defensible
Accounting Operations
Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and financial data integrity
Manage and monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Supervise ongoing bookkeeping activities to ensure consistency and accuracy
Systems, Controls & Governance
Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures
Maintain and strengthen internal controls
Support organization and cleanup of financial records where needed
Help implement efficient, scalable financial workflows
Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial information
Stay informed on industry developments and regulatory changes
Qualifications
Active CPA license preferred (or equivalent experience with strong tax background)
5–10+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on tax involvement
Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, must be advanced to be considered
Experience with:
Financial reporting
Federal and state tax compliance
Strong, hands-on experience preparing and managing tax filings is required
Ability to independently manage both accounting close and tax compliance processes
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Experience
Background in events, hospitality, or seasonal operations
Experience working with external auditors or tax advisors
Familiarity with Texas tax requirements
