About This Opportunity
Judit Inc. is hiring on behalf of one of our largest clients — a global technology leader in consumer electronics, semiconductors, and mobile communications. This is a temporary, contract position: you’ll be employed by Judit Inc. and work directly alongside our client’s team.
The description below is our client’s overview of the background, skills, and experience they’re looking for. If you meet most — but not all — of these, we still want to hear from you. Your Judit recruiter will walk you through the day-to-day work, schedule, pay, and contract length before anything moves forward.
What you’ll do
You’ll lead accounts payable for a corporate finance team in New York City: approving vendor invoices and employee expenses, safeguarding vendor banking data, keeping payments and month-end close on schedule, and owning the AP controls auditors rely on. You’ll also manage and coach the AP team and lead process improvements.
- Review and approve vendor invoices, POs, and non-PO payments under company policy, delegation of authority, approval limits, and three-way match; review and approve employee expense reports (T&E, corporate card, reimbursements), validating documentation, business purpose, coding, cost centers, and approvals
- Resolve duplicates, discrepancies, unsupported charges, split transactions, and policy exceptions before payment; document decisions and escalate items needing higher-level approval
- Approve payment and reimbursement runs and manual or urgent payments, confirming amounts, terms, and verified banking details; coordinate execution with Treasury
- Register and verify bank accounts for new vendors in the company’s vendor registration system before activation, confirming identity and account ownership
- Verify new banking details and every bank change request through documented call-backs to authorized vendor contacts from a trusted, independent source; confirm requestor authority and the authenticity of bank letters and voided checks
- Maintain segregation of duties across bank data entry, verification, approval, and payment release; hold and escalate suspicious or unverified requests; keep verification evidence and change history on file
- Handle sensitive banking and expense data securely, run periodic bank-data and access audits, and keep verification procedures current with Procurement and Treasury
- Manage the invoice and reimbursement lifecycle for accurate, on-time payments; resolve payment issues, returns, and rejections
- Oversee AP reconciliations, aging, accruals, and month-end and year-end close with accounting, other departments, and subsidiaries
- Own AP internal controls and SOX compliance; monitor fraud risk, duplicate payments, unauthorized bank changes, and vendor master discrepancies; lead vendor-risk reporting and remediate control gaps
- Serve as the primary AP contact for internal and external auditors, providing control evidence and driving corrective actions
- Manage, coach, and develop AP staff, and act as the escalation point for complex invoice, expense, payment, and vendor disputes
- Train employees on expense policy, approval workflows, and bank verification; lead automation and process improvement using ERP capabilities, data analysis, and approved AI tools
- Track and report AP KPIs such as on-time payment, turnaround, accuracy, aging, verification completion, and exception rates
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- At least 8–10 years of experience in accounts payable, vendor management, or a related field
- Experience approving both employee expenses and vendor invoices, managing payment processes, and supporting reconciliations and month-end close
- Hands-on experience with vendor onboarding, bank registration and bank change verification, vendor master data controls, fraud prevention, and audit support
- Leadership, people management, and coaching skills
- Sound judgment and integrity in approvals, with the confidence to uphold policy and challenge exceptions
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, and close attention to detail, especially in bank data verification
- Diplomacy with difficult vendor and stakeholder situations, and strong relationship management
- Clear oral and written communication
- Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables)
- Urgency and timeliness, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
Nice to have
- SAP or similar ERP experience
- Familiarity with expense management tools and vendor registration workflows
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks (SOX)
