As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial processes and support the organizations' financial health and sustainability.

    Position Overview: The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing key financial processes, including payroll review and adjustments, accounts payable, and the preparation of reports for accounting firms. This role will also focus on identifying opportunities for cost savings and implementing efficiencies to ensure the organizations' financial operations are streamlined and cost-effective. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit accounting or media finance, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting the mission of CJF and OMG.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Payroll Review and Adjustments:

      • ****Review, update, and submit payroll to PEO for employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment in compliance with applicable laws and organizational policies.
      • Work closely with HR Manager to ensure proper adjustments are made to payroll for changes in compensation, benefits, and tax withholdings.
      • Ensure payroll records are properly maintained and in compliance with state and federal tax regulations.
    • Accounts Payable:

      • Oversee accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, verifying payment details, and ensuring timely payments to vendors and contractors.
      • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
      • Ensure that payments are made in accordance with budgetary guidelines and financial policies.
    • Financial Reporting:

      • Prepare and organize financial reports and documentation for accounting firms during audits, tax filings, and other financial assessments.
      • Collaborate with external accountants and auditors to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial statements.
      • Provide supporting documents and analysis as needed.
    • Cost Savings Identification:

      • Review financial statements and operations to identify opportunities for cost-saving measures.
      • Work with management to analyze expenses and recommend strategies to reduce costs without compromising the quality or effectiveness of the organizations' operations.
      • Assist with budgeting and forecasting to help identify areas of financial improvement and ensure sustainability.
    • Financial Record Keeping:

      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and nonprofit regulations.
      • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a regular basis.
      • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
    • Budgeting & Forecasting:

      • Support the budgeting process by collecting financial data, tracking expenditures, and providing insights for future financial planning.
      • Monitor budget variances and work with department heads to ensure alignment with organizational financial goals.
    • Internal Controls & Compliance:

      • Ensure that financial practices are in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
      • Assist with the development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard the organization's financial resources.
    • Additional Financial Support:

      • Assist Leadership team in other financial duties as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization or in media.

    • Strong understanding of payroll processes, accounts payable, and financial reporting.

    • Experience with nonprofit accounting principles and standards, including fund accounting, is preferred.

    • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Excel.

    • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance requirements.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.

    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
