Position Summary

North Side Banana is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Specialist to manage vendor invoices, payments, and account reconciliations. This role is critical to maintaining strong vendor relationships, accurate financial records, and efficient cash-flow management in a fast-paced produce distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner

Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents

Verify pricing, quantities, and terms; resolve discrepancies with buyers, receivers, and vendors

Schedule and process weekly payment runs (checks, ACH, wires)

Maintain accurate vendor records, payment terms, and tax documentation (W-9s)

Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on missing or disputed invoices

Monitor accounts payable aging and ensure timely payments

Communicate professionally with vendors regarding payment status and inquiries

Assist with month-end close, audits, and financial reporting as needed

Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls

Support accounting team with additional administrative or finance tasks as required

Required Qualifications

2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience

Experience in food distribution, produce, logistics, or wholesale environments preferred

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (ERP experience preferred)

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ERP systems commonly used in produce or distribution (e.g., Famous Software, Produce Pro, or similar)

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Understanding of freight, logistics, and perishable inventory billing
