    Accounts Payable Specialist

    Full-Time, Monday–Friday, Non-Exempt / Hourly 8 am-4:30 pm

    $20-$25/HR; Compensation based on experience

    Job Summary:

    The Accounts Payable Specialist plays a vital role as part of our Finance Team. The Accounts Payable Specialist supports the organization's fiscal operations by ensuring accurate financial records in compliance with non-profit accounting standards. In addition, the Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing high volumes of vendor invoices with accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring proper coding and approvals.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage accounts payable with integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
    • Prepare and process weekly check runs and ACH payments.
    • Act as primary backup for payroll,
    • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations
    • Support year-end closing and audit preparation
    • Maintain the procedures manual for departmental operations
    • Assist with grant reporting and compliance analysis

    Required Qualifications:

    • Associate degree in finance/accounting preferred or equivalent experience
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
    • Proficient in accounting software; QuickBooks experience. No form fillers -
    • Solid MS Office, Excel,
    • Excellent verbal and written communication across teams and management levels
    • Commitment to confidentiality and professional representation

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, ideally in a nonprofit setting
    • Familiarity with automated AP systems; SAP Concur experience
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and data interpretation skills
    • Mortgage servicing experience
    • Non-profit bookkeeping/accounting experience.
