We growing and are currently seeking a highly motivated professional who is qualified, dedicated, and interested in growing an established service business to fill the position of General Manager.
The General Manager is a new position that will be responsible for managing and growing the local operations of Ace Handyman Services Bryan College Station. This person will provide support and assistance to all members of the local team including the craftsmen and office manager, and will also be responsible for performing craftsmanship duties as well. The General Manager will oversee the residential and commercial repair and improvement projects ranging typically from several hundred to several thousand dollars in size. The General Manager will also be responsible for marketing and promoting the business to the public. It is expected that the General Manager will spend approximately 50% of their time performing hands-on labor and the remaining 50% of their time will be in a leadership capacity and supporting business demands.
Specifically, the General Manager will:
Develop the business to meet the annual production goals for the business;
Lead, train, develop, retain, and provide assistance to the entire team of employees including the Craftsmen and the Office Manager;
Visit site projects to observe operations and to verify quality and compliance with business operations;
Be proficient in sales and instilling confidence in customers;
Be comfortable with marketing and networking;
Interact well with customers, understand their needs, and be able to independently propose solutions;
Review job scopes and provide detailed estimates based on time and materials;
Review warranty work and determine if follow-up is required;
Oversee all day-to-day activities to complete projects including trouble shooting/diagnosis of unique problems, ordering and delivering materials, and processing of collections and payments;
Perform handyman & remodeling tasks as needed to support work volume.
The General Manager’s qualifications must include the following, at a minimum:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in home repair and improvement, remodeling, and project management;
Demonstrated leadership skills, high level of integrity, and experience supervising others;
A positive “can-do” attitude, bringing positive energy to the workplace;
A high level of proficiency training, motivating, and developing others;
General knowledge of local building and safety codes and industry best practices;
Working knowledge of a variety of construction trades;
Ability to specify repairs and estimate project cost;
Ability to work well with and communicate effectively with varied groups of people;
Experience in project planning and preferably experience in managing construction crews;
Strong organizational and administrative skills;
Ability to work weekends or after hours on an infrequent basis as needed to support business demands;
A strong level of comfort on computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint);
Strong organizational and administrative skills; and
A strong interest in, and commitment to, customer service.
