ACREMAPS

AcreMaps aims to be the most comprehensive, accurate, and useful mapping tool for agriculture. There are over 50 million farmland owners in the world that require a better service to explore their land. That includes using satellite imagery to  discover how land has evolved, pricing land at market values through valuation algorithms, and exploring many layers of underlying agronomic information. Our team solves complex computer science problems, designs beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improves the accuracy of our data to set the industry standard for mapping. 

GIS SPECIALIST

AcreTrader is looking for a GIS Analyst based in Fayetteville, AR who will join our AcreMaps  team to be a part of building the most accurate, comprehensive, and usable analytical farmland tool available today. We are particularly interested in candidates with Mapbox experience as well as experience or interest in agriculture to bring our team a competitive edge.

The GIS Analyst will work alongside the development team to implement the latest mapping and web technologies and create tools that meet the needs of investors, farmers, brokers, and landowners. The GIS Analyst will be responsible for applying their  geospatial knowledge to help drive quality and speed in our mapping tool by sourcing, cleaning, and storing data in a usable database.

The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset and is excited about building something new from the ground up. As at any growing company, you can expect many other tasks and responsibilities to be assigned as well as growth opportunities to be seized. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Sourcing agricultural mapping data 
• Cleaning, storing, and analyzing mapping data
• Working closely with engineering team to implement data into our AcreMaps tool
• Using industry knowledge to eliminate mistakes and improve the quality of our AcreMaps tool

KEY COMPETENCIES/REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor's Degree in geography, computer science, surveying, engineering, forestry, earth science or related field 
• 2 or more years of experience in agricultural mapping 
• 2 or more years of experience with mapping tools - Mapbox preferred  (Esri ArcGIS, Google Maps API, ArcGIS Online, OpenStreetMap, Azure Maps, QGIS, Salesforce Maps, BatchGeo)
• Familiarity with Mapbox API 
• Familiar with geospatial data standards such as geoJSON or WKT
• Comfortable working in an Agile environment
• Strong communication skills 
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a startup environment
• Transparent and open to feedback
• Growth potential to become manager and stretch into new markets 
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment at AcreTrader.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Experience building geospatial databases
• Programming experience
