    Position: Collections Specialist (Contract) - Collections

    Location: Greater Houston Area

    Summary

    Our client is a family-owned and operated portfolio of businesses in the transportation sector. The Collections Specialist is a key contract position within the organization’s accounting and operations team. Additionally, this role provides critical support between sales, accounting and operations.

     

    Job Responsibilities and Functions

    • Assist accounting team and sales team with reviewing and managing accounts receivables for second stage of collection project in a timely and accurate fashion.
    • Assist in aging reports, client account reviews, adhering to strict deadlines.
    • Track invoices for timely payment and adherence to contract terms.
    • Ensure all job and project paperwork is archived including contracts, receipts, and tickets.
    • Work directly with clients, management, and ownership on collections processing.
    • Providing customer services regarding collection issues, process customer refunds, process and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments.
    • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts with customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write off, customer reconciliations and processing credit memos.
    • Enlist the efforts of sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
    • Communicate and follow up effectively with sales department regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
    • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with clients.
    • Assist in any lien filing processes.
    • Perform other duties of a clerical nature as assigned or directed.

    Experience:

    • At least 2 years of experience in a similar or related role.

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Proficient computer skills using MS Office tools including Outlook and Excel required.
    • Excellent communication skills and business acumen.
    • Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbally).
    • Ability to perform job duties in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities and sometimes under stress.
    • Must possess the minimal experience listed above and requirements outlined herein.

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening, which includes a drug test (position may be subject to ongoing drug testing as a term of continued employment)
    • Ability to legally work in the US

    Work Environment

    This position operates largely in an office environment.

     

    Physical Demands

    In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal. While at work, the employee may be expected to sit, walk, and stand. Individual might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individual might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.

    This is a contract position. Normal business hours and schedule to be determined.
