    Special Education Instructor Job Summary

    ** Teaching credential in Special Education or Masters in Education Field**

    Activ8 is looking for a seasoned teacher who has extensive experience with Dyslexia, ADHD, Executive Functioning, dysfunctional emotional regulation issues, speech delays, and spectrum disorder ranging from mild to moderate. Pay will be anywhere from 40-70 dollars an hour depending on the teacher's experience. Having experience with IEP, and 504 students is ideal. Must be knowledgable and savvy to effectively communicate with parents and school district employees, therapists, and doctors.

We are currently seeking bright and ambitious teachers with a degree in Special Education to target specific areas bridging the gap in remediating kiddos. We are looking for instructors who are available beginning anywhere from 8am to 8pm Monday thru Friday. This position will likely turn into a full time teaching position. We are looking for a very specific type of nurturing, loving, qualified teacher who can pivot and differentiate education for struggling students.

    Job Description

    To be considered for the position, you MUST be outgoing, patient, compassionate, responsible, and relatable to the children. At Activ8, your primary responsibilities are: one on one tutoring and lesson planning/prep for each student. As a part-time Activ8 Instructor, you will be trained on the Activ8 curriculum and given the tools to prepare for each day. As a part-time Instructor you will need to be available 5 to 40 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00am. - 8:00p.m. Monday – Friday, with the possibility of Saturdays. If you are passionate and compassionate, then we want you on our team as a special education instructor!

    As an Activ8 special education instructor, it will be your job to lead the student support process for identifying, monitoring, and guiding students who learn differently; support students with a variety of learning styles by providing intervention and remediation; communicate with their teachers and support them in their efforts to advance students with different learning needs within the classroom; work with parents, students, and outside professionals in order to better support students with learning differences. He or she will join a community who already values and appreciates the work of and partners well with a learning specialist.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Working with students, staff, parents and teachers to develop a tutoring plan that fits the student's individual needs
    • Capable of creating homeschool curriculum for 1:1 teaching
    • Able to follow California standards creating and monitoring grade level standards
    • Preparing tutoring sessions to ensure academic development for students
    • Developing a rapport, motivate students and create a fun learning environment during instruction time
    • Communicating with teachers and parents, paying particular attention that needs outlined in a 504 or IEP are being met
    • Offering assistance developing study strategies such as executive functioning
    • Monitoring progress throughout tutoring sessions
    • Participating in tutor training and development sessions
    • Exhibiting patience and positive attitudes to establish an encouraging learning environment
    • Communicating student needs to the center manager
    • Maintaining a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching Math and English

    Qualifications and Skills

    · A specialized background in learning differences, interpreting and applying complex educational plans, as well as aligning and monitoring the effectiveness of interventions and alternative strategies to maximize learning for students are required skills for this position

    · Knowledge of IEP plans and 504 Plans

    · Previous teaching or tutoring experience required

    · thoroughly versed in meeting student needs across the development spectrum and in providing targeted instruction to students with learning differences

    · Solid subject matter knowledge in a majority of these areas: Writing, Reading and Math Concepts from Pre-K up to Sixth Grade

    · Be able to explain concepts to others effectively

    · Well-versed in a variety of behavior modification techniques

    · Effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success

    · The ideal candidate MUST BE Reliable and Proactive: multi-tasker, outgoing, punctual, well organized, and an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic school setting

    · Highly skilled, motivated, versatile, dependable, and dynamic individuals with strong communication skills.

    · Friendly, patient, and sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population

    · Good time management, communication and organization skills

    · Candidate must possess a love for teaching

    · Work comfortably with parents, students and teachers

    Preferred:

    · Experience with a variety of teachings methods/curriculums is a bonus; i.e. Orton Gillingham, Handwriting without Tears, Explode the Code, Wilson Method, Michelle Garcia Winner, Common Core, Wonders Curriculum, Bridges, etc.
