Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Activity Aide to join our team in providing engaging and enjoyable recreational activities for our residents/clients. The Activity Aide will assist in implementing, planning, and facilitating various programs and activities that promote physical, mental, and social well-being. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with individuals of all ages and abilities, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, organizing, and conducting of recreational and therapeutic activities for residents/clients.
- Create an engaging and stimulating environment by facilitating a variety of activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, exercise, and social events.
- Support residents/clients in participating in activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Monitor and document resident/client participation and progress, providing feedback to the Activity Director.
- Communicate effectively with residents/clients, families, and team members, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Help set up and break down activity spaces, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and materials for activities.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in recreational therapy, social work, or related fields preferred.
- Experience working with individuals in a healthcare, educational, or community setting is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Creativity and a passion for developing engaging programs and activities.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily in a community, residential, or healthcare setting.
- May require evening, weekend, or holiday work depending on activity schedules.
