Position Summary
The Activity Leader is responsible for planning, leading, and supervising engaging enrichment activities for students in grades K–5. This role focuses on physical fitness, recreation, social-emotional learning (SEL), and hands-on enrichment while maintaining a safe, positive, and structured environment. Activity Leaders work collaboratively with site staff to support daily program operations, student needs, and family communication.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and lead age-appropriate enrichment activities aligned with physical fitness, nutrition, social skills, and SEL goals
Implement the Physical Fitness component, including fitness and conditioning activities and outdoor games
Support academic and home-learning assistance as needed
Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for students ages 5–12
Maintain direct supervision of students at all times to ensure safety and positive behavior
Redirect student behavior using positive guidance strategies
Follow daily schedules related to enrichment activities (e.g., science, culture, art, recreation)
Assist with snack distribution, site setup, and daily shutdown procedures
Work collaboratively with Teachers and other site staff during indoor and outdoor activities
Participate in weekly and/or monthly staff meetings and trainings
Communicate professionally with parents regarding student participation and behavior
Follow the established chain of command and all program policies and procedures
Qualifications
High school diploma or higher
1–2 years of experience working with children in a group setting (after-school, camp, childcare, or youth programs preferred)
Ability to lead group activities with energy, structure, and enthusiasm
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Patient, positive, and supportive approach to student learning and development
Belief in the potential of all children and the ability to motivate students daily
Trustworthy, reliable, punctual, and professional
Model of integrity, ethics, and teamwork
Completion of the mandatory 40-hour Introductory Child Care Training
