TAX MANAGER FOR ACUITY CFO

Performance Profile (Duties & Responsibilities):

• Prepare federal, state and local income tax returns
• Review tax returns prepared by staff
• Prepare extensions and quarterly estimates 
• Research and resolve tax issues
• Tax planning and consulting 
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to foster and develop a relationship with clients and other Acuity team members to deliver client expectations
• Review and analyze financial statements and determine if adjusting journal entries are needed
• Work along with Director of Tax to build and improve tax processes and department
• Provide guidance and work supervision to staff

About You:

Experience: You have a minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in public accounting with broad exposure to various tax return types (corporate, partnership, individual, and not for profit). You are able to prepare signature-ready tax returns while meeting tax deadlines. 

Attention To Details: You are particular about order and organization.  If a process isn’t followed or an account doesn't reconcile, you are NOT a happy camper.

Efficient Communicator: You are comfortable communicating/ explaining tax concepts to clients. You are adept at communicating to a wide range of people and are polite, yet concise. You are totally comfortable communicating on the phone, email, Zoom, and other mediums.

Tenacious: You are not intimidated by expectations of a consistent and, sometimes, heavy workload.  

Critical Cog: You don’t back down from knowing that your responsibilities have a direct impact on the growth of Acuity, and even more importantly....your client. This is all welcomed and seen as an opportunity.

Proven Over-Achiever: You have consistently exceeded the expectations set out in front of you in previous roles.

Tech Geek: You have experience working within cloud-based tax and accounting systems. You quickly pick up any new systems that are put in front of you and welcome the opportunity to try new technologies.

Degreed: You are a graduate of a 4-year university with a degree in accounting. CPAs preferred.  Beware: a number of our bookkeepers are CPAs and have worked in Big 4 Firms...not your typical bookkeepers...so you need to be comfortable working alongside some real pros.

Compensation & Benefits:

YOU get to pick your workload.  Current team members target a schedule of 20-40 hours/week. Please designate your preference in your application.

YOU get to pick your schedule.  We ask that team members participate in 1 team call per week and maintain some core hours within the normal business day to participate in client calls.  We trust you to get the rest of your work done from whatever location is best for you.

As part of our Tax team, you would support Acuity clients and your controller and bookkeeping teammates in the performance of their accounting function.  This work is performed remotely for clients across the U.S. (and even some internationally).  This is a chance to help a huge number of entrepreneurs improve their accounting function, as well as playing a role in changing the age-old way that accounting is typically performed.  If you are a traditional tax professional who prefers doing things and using systems in the same way you always have....this is not the position for you.  If you are interested in revolutionizing the way small accounting departments run, you might make a good team member at Acuity.
