  • Responsibilities

    THIS POSITION IS PRN (AS NEEDED)!

    Assistance with performing activities of daily living that an individual would typically perform if her/she did not have a disability, and that is not otherwise required as a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, assistance with removing and putting on clothing, eating, and using the restroom. Such services do not include medical care. PAS is not the same as services that help perform job-related tasks, such as sign language interpreters for employees who are deaf or readers for employees who are blind or have learning disabilities.

    The selected candidate shall be able to provide a broad range of responsibilities and job duties. The non-medical care services shall include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Helping the employee to eat and drink liquids
    • Helping the employee to use the restroom
    • Taking off and putting on the employee's clothing items
    • Warming the employee's food
    • Carrying the employee's belongings to and from a car/public transportation and office
    • Accompanying the employee while on business travel to provide the personal assistance services required by the employee (including, but not limited to, bathing, dressing, eating/drinking, arranging for transportation to and from the meeting sites, etc.)
    • Providing personal assistance services to the employee (including those identified above, as applicable) at home during telework hours

    Qualifications:

    • High School Graduate or equivalent education
    • Minimum 3 years of experience providing personal assistance or experience as a Personal Care Assistant in a business or healthcare setting (in offices, homes, or facilities)
    • Ability to read, write, and understand English
    • Must be polite and maintain a professional demeanor while performing personal assistance services
    • Must demonstrate tact, patience, empathy, compassion, and kindness
    • Must be able to do prolonged or considerable walking or standing; able to lift, position, and/or transfer employees; ability to lift supplies and equipment; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, an/or crouching, and visual acuity and hearing to perform as required
    • Must be able to manage time, manage multiple assignments along with adhering to set rules and protocols.

    Desired Qualifications (considered a plus but not required):

    • Certified Nursing Assistant (2 years' experience)
    • Certified Home Health Aide
    • Active CPR and First Aid Certification or Basic Life Support Certification

    The work schedule will closely mirror the schedule of the employee or employees. Work days are Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Overtime (more than 40 hours in a week) may be authorized in advance only by Contracting Officer or designated Contracting Officer's Representative.
