    Ada Developers Academy is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school for women and gender expansive adults. We focus on serving black, latine, indigenous, and pacific islander communities, low income people, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our program consists of two highly immersive parts: six months of focused instruction, and five months of internship at partner companies, where students refine their skills working on real-world code.

    ABOUT THIS POSITION

    We are looking for an Accountant to join our growing Ada team and execute the day-to-day operations of Ada’s Accounting functions. As an integral member of our Finance team, you will bring your attention to detail and excellent organization to carry out our Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable daily, and provide accounting administration and support for month-end and year-end close. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with a base salary of $60,000 to $70,000 annually (DOE) and excellent benefits.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    Accounts Payable (40%)

    • Receive and post invoices, route for approval through Bill.com 

    • Pay invoices and maintain AP forecast report

    • Post payment transactions in QuickBooks

    • Review credit card transactions, communicate with staff on missing receipts and descriptions

    • Process stipend payments to students

    • Vendor relations, documentation requests, and record-keeping compliance

    Accounts Receivable (35%)

    • Review Statements of Work and billing schedule, invoice via QuickBooks and customer portal

    • Deposit check payments and monitor bank feed for ACH payments

    • Monitor payment register in QuickBooks and post payments

    • Maintain billing and deposit report, and AR forecast report

    • Maintain AR aging report and communicate with past due accounts

    • Customer relations, documentation requests, and record-keeping compliance

    General Accounting (25%)

    • Post monthly journal entries in QuickBooks

    • Bank reconciliation

    • Monthly expense reports and coding

    • Maintain supporting schedules

     

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2+ years of experience in accounting or administrative field with AP and AR experience 

    • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and innate sense of ownership with demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a team

    • Excitement and desire to work in a collaborative environment during a period of growth, where there are many opportunities to gain experience while contributing to process improvement and developing efficiencies

    • Strong communication skills, exceptional customer service, and positive cross-functional relations

    • Experience working with Excel preferred, and experience working with QuickBooks a plus

    • Demonstrated embodiment of Ada’s values in a professional environment
